Hi I'm Sarah – Designer, mom, wife, believer, knitter, hobby farmer, novice basket weaver and aspiring flower farmer!
I'm a long time resident of the Crowsnest Pass, having moved here as a child. My husband and I have been gutting, renovating and building houses together since we bought our first home over twenty years ago. Back then I was just finishing Interior Design school, ready to transform our small, run down, ancient gem of a starter home into something glorious. I had the vision, the drive, the dream... everything but the finances! My husband and I forged ahead with renos, doing everything ourselves, or enlisting the help of friends and family. We were able to make our little house into a beautiful home, on a shoe string budget. I think that experience is what gave birth to my passion for small budget projects. We don't all have huge wallets, but we can all still have nice things!!
The yard on our first property was virtually a blank canvas. We slowly tackled that as well, creating gorgeous beds, sitting areas and meandering pathways. That project lead me to fall desperately in love with gardens, and I decided I needed to study Landscape Design as well, graduating a few years later.
I originally opened Earth and Abode in 2009. I had a few really great years designing in the Pass and Pincher areas before managing my own business while juggling three tiny humans, a marriage, the building of our new (bigger) house, AND working a part time job became too much! Inevitably, Earth and Abode was put into sleep mode; always on my heart, and in my thoughts, waiting for the opportunity to revive my dream and breathe life back into my business!
I am so excited to reopen Earth and Abode, and to dedicate my time and energy into creating beautiful spaces once again!
